So, here I am again, typing away at this tiny white box DA gives me. One tine little white box in which to say so much. I haven't updated this journal a whole lot ever, and I suppose it is high time I do so once more. There plenty to talk about, but since my last two have been about gaming I'll start there.

First of all, we've started a new and interesting idea at home in our Amtgard park known as the Barony of Haranshire. It's called Feudalism! and it waas written some years ago by a player who has since moved to England and no longer plays. Fortunately, I talked to him via online messaging and told him that his game was being enjoyed by the new genreation of Haranshire.

The game is a turn based strategy game, much like Risk, that uses a hex grid map to take territories and build structures. Except that instead of rolling dice, the players take the field and battle their foes using the Amtgard class rules.

When grabbing a territory the players must face off against a random generation of monsters that are specific to the land type that they are trying to take. What this has given rise to is training of the tactical minds of our players. When presented with a dangerous, unpredictable foe that requires differing tactics to defeat the players have been developing interesting strategies using their resources in order to conquer their land. This includes me. I love a tactical challenge and on normal field days I don't have much call for one, but when playing this game it gives me plenty of time and chance to do so. Not only that, but we will cycle through several turns in a single afternoon, which keeps field moving and means that no one is ever bored. Even when another team is competing for a land territory everyone gathers to spectate.

All in all, I beleive Feudalism! is a perfect way to keep life moving and to keep interest in Amtgard in our area up beyond what it had ever experienced before.
